Information is beautiful - Sometimes

Why do we spend so much time on spreadsheets and words when a few simple images are enough to convey so much meaning.
We can instantly recognise shapes, colours and group them subconsciously in ways that are so effortless.
So why do we labour with difficult ways to share information when we should be spending sometime understanding how to best and simplistically convey information.

One of my favourites below from Information is Beautiful ... a perspective of the worlds money - where all the African debt and 1 billion people could be lifted out of poverty with a fraction of the cost of the Iraq and Afghan wars. No where else can you see how significant a problem we have in the way we miss key insight from the information around us.
